D6000 offices

One of the most visible buildings on the Dounreay site was demolished towards the end of 2006.

The old library known as D6000 was built in the early 1960s and located near the site entrance.

Latterly, it served as the headquarters of AEA Fuel Services during UKAEA’s commercial business in international fuels.

Demolition started in autumn 2006 with internal strip-out and removal of the distinctive copper roof sheeting.

The building was demolished in November 2006.
