ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION TECHNICIAN

£25,186 - £34,428 per annum

Dounreay is Scotland's largest nuclear clean-up and demolition project. For fifty years it was the UK's centre of fast reactor research and development. Today DSRL is taking it apart. The company is internationally recognised for its ground-breaking work at the site, which is considered to be one of the most challenging and complex nuclear clean-up projects in the world.

A vacancy exists for a Technician within the Electrical Distribution team responsible for the maintenance and operation of the HV and LV normal and standby electrical distribution systems on site.

The Positions:

The successful candidate will be involved in carrying out routine and breakdown maintenance, HV and LV switching operations in accordance with pre-prepared switching programmes, preparation, checking and approving of documentation associated with the Safe System of Work, utilisation of specialist diagnostic techniques and equipment to identify and rectify faults in plants, systems and components and provide advice on matters relating to the Dounreay 11KV electrical distribution system. Following appropriate training and plant familiarisation the successful candidate will be appointed as a Level 3 Authorised Person Electrical.

Requirements:

The following qualifications, experience and aptitudes are essential:

• To have served a recognised electrical apprenticeship plus HNC in Electrical Engineering
• Experience of working with HV and LV electrical distribution systems
• Demonstrate a detailed, practical understanding of plant, engineering assets and equipment gained through experience in an engineering environment
• Demonstrate the ability to apply engineering processes to achieve engineering solutions
• Be self-motivated, have high personal work standards and the ability to work on your own initiative.
