JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Electrical Project Engineer

Grade: Level 4

Salary Range: £24,809 - £35,120

Unit / Department: Site Services / Balance of Site Decommissioning

Reporting to: Project Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

Support a Project Manager to define and implement new construction projects across the site, which comply with technical and safety standards and are executed to agreed targets.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Establishing and maintaining a comprehensive, up to date technical knowledge and understanding of specified project areas.
2. Assessing and investigating technical difficulties on projects and developing effective solutions to minimise cost and programme implications.
3. Liaison with Contractors, Design Department and other personnel on engineering aspects of projects.
4. Preparing and updating a range of project documentation including technical papers, reports and specifications.
5. Reviewing project specifications, safety and quality assurance documentation and ensuring compliance with requirements by Contractors.
6. Monitoring and close control of the performance on key task areas throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
7. Assisting the Project Manager to manage effectively the projects under his/her overall responsibility and carrying out duties delegated by him/her. 

PERSON PROFILE

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 3 years experience in an electrical engineering or project management environment.
Knowledge of the working environment on a nuclear site is desirable.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

An electrical engineering degree and membership of an appropriate institution are desirable. A minimum qualification of HNC or equivalent in an electrical discipline may be acceptable if combined with appropriate experience.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

Specific to Job:

Demonstrable aptitude for project engineering is essential, as is an appreciation of project management tools, techniques and processes, the project life cycle and management methodology.

General:

An effective team member.

BEHAVIOURAL STYLE:

Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally are required.
