JOB SPECIFICATION

Grade: Support Grade C

Salary Range: £16,907 to £22,893

Unit / Department: Site Services / Balance of Site Decommissioning

Reporting to: Plant and Utilities Engineer (Mechanical)

JOB PURPOSE

Provide operational and supervisory support to the Contract Maintenance Department

ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Carrying out daily and weekly checks for all site cryogenic (liquid nitrogen) vessels.

2. Supervision, organising appropriate paperwork and escorting for the BOC liquid nitrogen tanker drivers access /egress whilst on site at the listed facilities.

3. Assist the Zurich Inspectors during inspections of lifting and pressure equipment across site.

4. Undertake formal training and become part of the nitrogen systems engineering call-out rota.

5. Assisting the Plant Engineer to manage effectively the projects under his/her overall responsibility and carrying out duties delegated by him/her.


PERSON SPECIFICATION

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of 3 years experience in a mechanical engineering or workshop environment.
Knowledge of cryogenic plants and the working environment on a nuclear site is desirable.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

A mechanical engineering qualification is desirable as is a recognised apprenticeship. Candidates without qualifications may be acceptable if appropriate work experience can be demonstrated.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

Specific to Job

Demonstrable aptitude for engineering is essential. Knowledge of cryogenic systems would be advantageous. Ability to participate in the engineering call-out rota for the cryogenic plants is essential.

Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communication effectively both in writing and verbally are required.
