Dounreay worker survey boosts Poppy Appeal
November 11, 2011
Dounreay workers have helped swell the Poppy Appeal fund by £1,000 by answering questions about their futures.
DSRL staff and contractors completed a workplace survey conducted in September, funded by NDA, DSRL and Highlands & Islands Enterprise, which quizzed them on their future intentions once the site was gone and how their circumstances had changed since the previous survey in 2006.
For each completed answer, £1 was pledged to a local charity, and the Thurso branch of the Royal British Legion was chosen to receive the money.
DSRL reactors decommissioning manager Mike Brown is pictured handing over the cheque to the Thurso committee of the British Legion.
The results of the survey, expected to be published in December, will shed light on the impact of Dounreay’s decommissioning on the local economy.
