Murkle

The beach at Murkle is located approximately 18 kilometres east of Dounreay.

Murkle beach was identified as an area where particles may be present during discussion with Dounreay Particles Advisory Group.

Following agreement with the landowner, the first survey was carried out in 2006. Further surveys were carried out in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Two "minor" particles have been detected.
