New Construction Design Project
JOB DESCRIPTION
Department: D3900, Remote Handling Intermediate Level Waste Immobilisation Facility, New Build Projects Unit
Reporting To: D3900 Senior Project Manager
Salary Range: £25,786 to £46,237 per annum (appointment dependent on skills and qualifications)
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
The D3900 Project is currently at the Detailed Design phase and there is a requirement for a number of Project Managers, Project Engineers and Construction Discipline Engineers to join the team. The key requirements are to manage out-sourced sub contracted detailed design packages of work and then ultimately assist in the overall integration and co-ordination to the overall design package of work followed by construction on site
These positions will be responsible for:
• Ensuring the delivery of the project(s)/ contract(s) of work to time, cost and quality by; planning, monitoring, controlling and reporting on programme/contract performance; identifying slippages/risks to the programme and taking appropriate remedial or mitigating actions
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant safety, environmental and management procedures
• To manage the preparation, approval and maintenance of Project Management plans for all projects/contracts under their control
• To ensure compliance with contract requirements and legislative and company requirement
• Contributing to the overall integration of the design package
• Acting and operating as an integral part of the integrated project team
PERSON PROFILE
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Degree, or equivalent, in a relevant Engineering/Construction discipline, ideally with membership of an appropriate professional institution
• The positions are multi-disciplinary, however specific/specialist skills in Civil, Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering would be preferred
SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Significant experience of engineering design within a nuclear or construction environment
• For Project Manager positions, proven track record of success in project management experience, ideally with experience of managing multiple projects
• Experience of managing teams of staff, including managing sub-contractors
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with other engineers / managers and sub-contractors
• The DSRL design team is being supported by a large team of sub-contractor design engineers largely based at Risley, Warrington. These positions will therefore involve frequent travel and potentially involve extended periods working away from Dounreay.
