Media
The media is an important part of the arrangements for communicating information during an emergency.
Northern Constabulary takes the lead in the release of information to the media during an emergency.
The police work closely with the press offices of other emergency services and organisations to ensure a co-ordinated approach to media information.
Well-rehearsed arrangements include a multi-agency media cell at police headquarters in Inverness, a media briefing centre and a forward media liaison point.
These arrangements are outlined in the off-site emergency plan produced by Highland Council.
Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd has a duty press officer on call 24 hours a day in support of the site's emergency arrangements.
MEDIA FACT-SHEETS
The Nuclear Emergency Planning Liaison Group (NEPLG) media fact sheets are designed as quick reference guides, to help the media find information on various aspects of nuclear emergency planning.
