 DSRL takes its obligations to the environment seriously.

The company's mission is to decommission the site in a way that does not harm the environment.

It does this in a number of ways:

  • Management systems, strategies and policies
     
  • Compliance with environmental legislation and statutory authorisations and controls
     
  • Nurturing a culture of environmental respect and protection across all operations in general and hazardous areas in particular
     
  • Embedded environmental advisers in each of the key decommissioning projects
     
  • Transparency in its reporting of environmental performance.

     

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency is responsible for regulating the keeping and use of radioactive substances and the accumulation and disposal of radioactive wastes.
