Regulator - nuclear safety

DSRL is required to comply with nuclear safety legislation in the UK.

Under the Nuclear Installations Act, DSRL is licensed to operate a nuclear site by the Office of Nuclear Regulation.

The licence contains 36 standard conditions. Compliance with these is regulated by ONR and its site inspection team.

ONR presents a quarterly report on its inspection activities at Dounreay to the site stakeholder group and publishes these on its website.
