JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Senior Electrical Project Engineer
Grade: Level 5
Salary Range: £31,235 - £44,436
Unit / Department: Site Services / Balance of Site Decommissioning
Reporting to: Project Manager
JOB PURPOSE:
You will develop concept design, detailed design and inform the implementation of upgrade/rationalisation of the electrical HV/LV distribution systems across site, in compliance with relevant technical and safety standards.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Establish, maintain and share a comprehensive, up to date technical knowledge and understanding of electrical distribution systems across site.
2. Assess and investigate technical difficulties on projects and develop effective solutions through concept design and detailed design to minimise cost and programme implications.
3. Champion the implementation of upgrade and/or the rationalisation of the electrical distribution systems.
4. Work collaboratively with Contractors, the Design department and other personnel to engineer the most effective and efficient project outcomes.
5. Prepare and update all relevant project documentation including technical papers, reports and specifications.
6. Review project specifications, safety and quality assurance documentation and ensure compliance with all relevant requirements and standards.
7. Monitor and closely control performance on key performance indicators throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
8. Assist the Project Manager to manage effectively the projects under his/her overall responsibility and carrying out duties delegated by him/her.
9. Mentor staff on best practice in your expect field
PERSON PROFILE
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 3 years experience in High Voltage and Low Voltage electrical distribution systems is essential.
Knowledge of the working in a project management environment on a Nuclear site is desirable.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
An electrical engineering degree and membership of an appropriate institution are essential.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Specific to Job:
Demonstrable aptitude for project engineering is essential, as is an appreciation of project management tools, techniques and processes, the project life cycle and management methodology.
General:
An effective team member.
BEHAVIOURAL STYLE:
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally are required.
