Management Accountant
JOB DESCRIPTION
Grade: Level 4
Salary Range: £25,786 to £36,544 per annum
Department: Finance
Reporting to: Senior Management Accountant
JOB PURPOSE
Provide management and financial accounting support to DSRL management and the DSRL Board.
Staff management responsibilities: Supervise a team of 3 staff.
Budget management responsibilities: No
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Manage the Dounreay period end accounting processes ensuring all activities are carried out to agreed timetable, verifying data and balances, ensuring that the profit and loss account reconciles at period end, and processing any necessary journal entries.
Provide standard annexes to the monthly report issued to Dexcom and the DSRL Board. Prepare variance analysis against budget and forecast for review by the senior management accountant prior to incorporation into the DSRL Finance Directors monthly DSRL Board Paper.
Maintain, monitor and analyse to the DSRL Balance Sheet.
Assist in the preparation of the annual DSRL Lifetime Plan. Create a DSRL budget from the LTP, including preparation of a budget commentary, and provide monthly variance analysis against budget.
Manage the DSRL sales ledger, credit control, and time recording function.
Ensure that DSRL complies with current accounting standards including International reporting financial standards.
Undertake ad hoc exercises and provide guidance and advice as required.
OTHER FEATURES
The postholder should ideally be a qualified, or part qualified accountant with a recognised CCAB Institute.
Flexibility and the ability to build effective relationship with a wide range of individuals is key to success.
The postholder will be required to deputise for and provide support to the Senior Management Accountant as required.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified accountant. Consideration will be given to part-qualified candidates who can demonstrate sufficient suitable practical experience.
