Archives

Since construction began in 1955, photographs, drawings, records and film footage have been archived for posperity.  These will be transferred to the new National Nuclear Archive, which is due to be built in Wick, Caithness.

Over the years, records have also been sent to the National Archive at Kew Gardens, London and the North Highand Archive, Wick.

The Royal Commission on the Ancient & Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) has an interesting collection of aerial photographs of Dounreay.

The DSRL video and image libraries provide good archive material.

The archives of the BBC, STV and National Library of Scotland (i.e. the Scottish Screen Archives) have all got film footage of Dounreay.
