The impact of the clean-up closure of Dounreay is measured in different ways - from the health and safety of workers to the effect of emissions and discharges on the environment and the site's contribution to the social and economic wellbeing of the north Highlands.
Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd recognises that its responsibilities extend beyond compliance with the law in areas such as health and safety or environmental protection.
The site provides practical support to the workforce and community in a number of different ways. These range from support for workers engaged in valuable community activity through to financial support for local groups and assistance to economic development agencies responsible for regeneration of the area beyond site closure.
