This is reflected in the way that the site involves the public in difficult decisions that have a potential impact on the environment or community.
For some wastes or projects, the options may have a significant impact off-site. To help make the correct choice, the site uses a well-defined process to identify the best practicable environmental option. This process seeks to engage members of the public and interested parties at the earliest opportunity.
Since 2002, the site has consulted on a number of projects where decisions need to be taken about the most appropriate way forward.
