Authorisation
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency registers the keeping and use of radioactive substances in Scotland and regulates the disposal of radioactive waste under the Radioactive Substances Act 1993.
Any operator seeking to dispose of radioactive waste must obtain an authorisation from SEPA.
The authorisation sets out limits on the types of radioactivity that can be disposed and conditions designed to keep disposals to the minimum required.
The authorisation granted tyo DSRL is held on a register by SEPA.
